Truancy Interventionist/Student Advocates

Our Team of Unit 4's TISAs employ a proactive approach focused on capacity building, skill building, persistence, self-confidence and resilience. They serve as a mentor and advocate for each student, and build bridges to connect students and their families to resources within Unit 4 and in the community.

TISA staff will work closely with the Attendance Officer at each school as well as the school-based Attendance Improvement Committee (AIC) which meets weekly. The Assistant Principal, Attendance Office, Social Worker, School Counselor and representative grade level teachers comprise the Committee.

Unit 4 TISAs provide the following non-academic, truancy-intervention, supplemental services that are needed to increase student attendance rates or prevent students from dropping out of school.

Meet TISA, Antonio Burton

"The most meaningful part of my job is being able to be the bridge for all involved with ensuring our students success in school. Knowing that I can help a family in need with making sure a student makes it to school and on time or gets a safe ride home is very rewarding."
